Kenya is located on the east coast of central Africa. Over the past 30 years,
poverty has been on the rise in Kenya. More than half of the country’s 31.3
million are poor, and 7.5 million of the poor live in extreme poverty.
Eldoret is situated in Rift Valley, Kenya, and is one of the largest towns in the
area. Common diseases in this area are malaria, pneumonia, and HIV/AIDS.

currently the 4th
largest city in Africa
and the most
populous city in
East Africa.
However, in the
center of this
modern city sits
the largest slum in
Africa called Kibera.

experienced are TB,
malaria, measles,
hepatitis, and STDs.
in Nairobi that gives scholarhips for poor children and orphans. It will also promote
youth programmes towards self reliance and education. In Eldoret, west of Kenya,
the group will partner with the Congregation of the Assumption Sisters of Eldoret
(ASE) to provide home for orphans, street children, and the poor in general.
